Ernst Wilhelm Nay

1902 — Born in Berlin June 11th.
1925 — Scholarship holder at Berliner Hochschule für bildende Künste in Carl Hofer’s class.
1928 — Trip to Paris.
1937 — Two of his works are exhibited at the degenerate Art show in Munich. Through Edvard Munch’s financial help Nay gets to spend three months in Norway.
1939 — Nay gets to know the art dealer Hanny Bekker vom Rath.
1949 — Beginnig of the „Fugale—Bilder“.
1951 — Nay moves to Cologne.
1952 — Beginning of the „Rhythmische Bilder“.
1954 — Beginning of the „Scheiben Bilder“.
1955 — Lichtwark – Price in Hamburg.
1956 — Solo exhibition in the German pavillion at the Biennale in Venice.
Great art price of Northrhein—Westphalia.
Appointment as member of the Academie of Arts, Berlin.
1962 — Solo exhibition to honor his 60th birthday at Museum Folkwang, Essen.
Solo exhibitions in New York.
1964 — Art price of the City of Berlin.
1966 — Travels to Morocco, New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Japan and Hong Kong.
1968 — Nay dies in Cologne April 8th.
