1930 — Born March 13th Wendorf.
1949-1953 — Studies art in Wismar and the Kunstakademie Berlin-Weißensee.
1955-1958 — Studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
1955-1957 — First nail paintings.
1961 — Co-founds the artist group ZERO together with Yves Klein, Heinz Mack and Otto Piene.
1964 — Prize of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia. Participation at documenta III, Kassel.
1965 — Prize at the “Junge Biennale”, Paris.
1968 — Participation at documenta 4, Kassel.
1970 — Participation Venice Biennale.
1972 — Participation Venice Biennalle.
1977 — Participation at documenta 6, Kassel.
1983 — Imperial ring of the city of Goslar.
1985 — Federal Service Cross 1st Class.
2000 — Member of the Order “Pour le mérite” for science and the arts.
2001 — Large federal cross with star.
2010 — Jan Wellem Ring of the city of Düsseldorf.
Günther Uecker lives and works in Düsseldorf and St. Gallen.
